The Story of Woom Children’s Bicycles

Founded in 2013 in a garage in Vienna by Marcus Ihlenfeld and Christian Bezdeka – both fathers and both passionate about cycling -Woom has since grown into an international company. We are represented in 30 countries, including Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, as well as the Nordic countries, Spain, France, and Italy. Woom is also present in the United States and China.

The story of our company began with the decision of two cycling-enthusiast fathers, Christian Bezdeka and Marcus Ihlenfeld, to develop a bicycle for their children that perfectly matched children’s proportions and riding behavior.

In 2013, the time had finally come: Christian, a trained biomedical engineer with a degree in industrial design and many years of experience in the bicycle industry, and Marcus, who had previously worked as a marketing manager in the automotive industry, founded Woom in a garage in Vienna.

After Christian was unable to find sufficient statistical data online about children’s anatomy, he developed his own size charts to perfectly adapt the bicycles to children’s needs and proportions.

Even before founding Woom, Marcus taught around 200 children how to ride a bike on the street right in front of the garage, so they could experience that magical moment.

Dynamic Growth

In the years since our founding, we have gradually developed into one of Europe’s most popular and successful children’s bicycle manufacturers. Today, we are represented in 30 countries worldwide. Woom is the market leader in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland and also has a strong presence in the United States.
